HAPPY THANKSGIVING ~ HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL BREAK!!

I.D. CARDS: If you need an ID please go to the Counseling office and sign-up for one. The last day to order one will be December 12 th . If you lost it, the charge is $10.(11/21-12/12)

FOOTBALL PLAYERS: All football players that have not turned in all of their gear may do so on Friday immediately after school from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This will be the last time to turn in gear w/ out incurring fees. (11/21)

ATTENTION SENIORS: You aren't going to want to miss an evening of fun, food and games! Be sure to get your ticket to your Sober Grad Night in the attendance office before the price goes up! $45.00 until winter break… (11/20-11/21)

HEALTH CAREERS ACADEMY: Health Careers Academy is collecting gently used children books and wrapping paper for the Howe Avenue Children Center. Please drop off books to Ms. McManigal's room 215 or Ms. Norce's room 115. Thank You, HCA Staff. –L. Norce (11/19-12/10)

ATTENTION GUITAR GODS: Compete in the Guitar Hero III / Rock Band guitar tournament. Sign-up during lunch in Mr. Geluck's room, E 251. Gift cards for top rockers. Competition begins after Thanksgiving break. –N. Geluck (11/18-11-21)

CAREER CENTER / COUNSELING NEWS:

ROP INFO DAY: The ROP program will be holding an information day on December 3 rd from 5:30pm-7:30pm at ponderosa High School's cafeteria. If you are interested in taking ROP courses this will be an excellent opportunity to learn what the courses have to offer and to speak to the instructors. –J. Sharp (11/21-12/3)

EXPLORER PROGRAM: Students interested in careers I the field of law enforcement should check out the “County Sheriff's Explorer Program”. Explorers receive much of the same training that Deputy Sheriff's do. Come to the Career Center and pick up a flyer (11/21).

WORK PERMITS: If you have turned in a “Request for Work Permit” and you haven't returned to pick up your work permit, get to the Career Center before the end of school today so you can work over the break!

SENIORS : If you're thinking about attending Sierra Nevada College next year, see your Counselor, or Mrs. Bastian in the Career Center TODAY about an $8,000 scholarship.

WIN $150 FOR YOUR ESSAY: The Fleet Reserve Association invites students in all grades to write an essay on "What the US Flag Stands For." 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place local prizes will be awarded at each grade level, and winners will be forwarded to regional and national levels for up to $15,000. Visit the Career Center for details TODAY because the deadline is Dec 1st.

COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS: Finish up your CSU/UC apps over the holiday break. The deadline for both CSU and UC applications is November 30th, the last day of our holiday break.

STUDY FOR THE SAT: Students in all grades who would like to study for the SAT are invited to sign up for the SAT Online Study Course for free. This program is valued at $70, but EDHS students can get it for free this year. Visit the Career Center or the Library for details on how to sign up.

Cougar ROAR

The EDHS Speech and Debate team takes 1st place in Small School (less than 10 entries) Sweepstakes again this year. They were awesome. Mary Garcia and Tiffany Martin took 1st place in Parli Debate; Tyler Weston and Evan Taylor took 3rd in Parli; Odin Rasco advanced to quarter finals in Lincoln Douglas Debate (only second time out); Jenny Tapp took first in Impromptu.Clifford Abbott and Mary Garcia were runners up in Extemperaneous Speaking. The students put in three days of competition which hosted over 60 schools and about 500 students.
